As we move into a new year, the presence of universal energy feels more tangible than ever. Many of us are seeking a deeper understanding of these subtle forces. Whether you’re focused on the events of the world, or those in your own personal life, you may notice the energetic balance of the universe shifting.

This shift in consciousness invites us to look inward. As we do, we recognize that true wellness extends beyond the physical realm. We must also acknowledge that our ability to facilitate healing for others begins with our own self-care.

In the Healing Touch for Animal® (HTA) curriculum, we often discuss the profound energetic bond between humans and animals. When our own energy systems are balanced and clear, we become more effective conduits for healing. By prioritizing self-healing — whether through grounding techniques, chakra balancing, or mindful meditation — we stabilize our own vibration. This stability allows us to approach the animals we care for with a clearer, more focused intent, enhancing the efficacy of our HTA work.

Our animals are incredibly sensitive to our energetic states. They often mirror our stress or calm. Therefore, caring for ourselves is not just a personal luxury, it is also a fundamental aspect of responsible animal stewardship.

For those looking to explore this symbiotic relationship further, Our Bridging Animals to People™ course teaches HTA students to apply some of the same techniques to ourselves that we use to energetically support our animals.

We know that universal energy flows between species. In our HTA practice, we are always reminded that the energy first flows through us when we are facilitating healing for animals or other humans. We do our work by honoring that and always beginning a session by setting the intention for the highest good.

This January, commit to your own energetic health. As you nurture your own well-being, you will notice a shift towards also elevating the care you provide to the animals who rely on you.
