Calling all animal shelter owners and employees: Did you know calming music is available to your shelter to help comfort the pets in your care? It’s a simple detail that makes a real difference for animals waiting for their forever homes.
HTA Founder Carol Komitor has donated three volumes of Healing Music for Animals and Their People™ to the Rescue Animal Mp3 Project, a non-profit initiative that brings soothing sound into shelter spaces. The music plays around the clock, helping ease the stress that comes with a busy, unfamiliar environment.
Shelters across all 50 states — and internationally — are already taking part. Each participating facility uses the calming music to create a gentler atmosphere for the animals in their care. The benefits reach beyond the animals, too. As Stark County Animal Adoption Center employee Kathy shared, “The music even relaxes me as a human. It soothes and calms my mind down.”
That’s the heart of this work: helping animals and the people who care for them feel a little more at peace.
The list of participating shelters keeps growing. It’s worth checking whether one near you is already part of the program and reaching out to those that aren’t yet.
