March 2026 marks a milestone for Healing Touch for Animals® — 30 years of transforming the way we care for and connect with animals. What began as a visionary idea by founder Carol Komitor has grown into a global movement, empowering individuals to support animals through energy therapy, essential oils, and holistic care.
Carol’s professional journey started in 1989 at the Colorado School of Healing Arts, where she studied massage and energy therapy. But her connection to the energetics of animals began long before that. Even as a child, Carol recognized that animals experience and respond to energy differently than humans.
Professionally, Carol’s passion for healing deepened even more through the Healing Touch Program, where she witnessed the profound impact of energy therapy on her human clients. But it was her 13 years as a veterinary technician that gave her a unique perspective, which bridged the clinical world of veterinary medicine with the holistic principles of energy healing she understood so well from childhood.
All of this led Carol to develop a program tailored specifically to their needs. And so, HTA was born. Over the past three decades, HTA has grown into an international educational program, offering courses in energy therapy, anatomy, sound therapy, and the use of essential oils.
But the heart of HTA’s success lies in the people who have supported and championed this work — from our dedicated instructors to passionate coordinators, and loving HTA practitioners — with a desire to make a change. These individuals have played a vital role in spreading Carol’s vision and making HTA what it is today. Their commitment, expertise, and love for animals have touched countless lives and continue to inspire the next generation of practitioners.
As we celebrate this 30-year milestone, we honor not only the legacy of HTA, but also the incredible community that has made it possible. Together, we look forward to a future where holistic and traditional care work hand in hand to serve the highest good of animals everywhere.
Here’s to 30 years of compassion, innovation, and connection — and to many more years of healing ahead!
A Note of Gratitude for Our HTA Community
Thirty years ago we couldn’t have imagined all of the wonderful people we would cross paths with as we carry out the HTA mission. Without your generous hearts, caring spirits, and gratitude for your fellow community members and animals, our program would not be where it is today. We could not have touched as many lives if not for each and every one of you.
As we reflect on three decades, we’d like to acknowledge the instructors and coordinators who have helped shape our program. While we don’t have the space here to acknowledge all of our coordinators (there have been more than 250 across the U.S., Canada, The Netherlands, Switzerland, and Germany!), we want to thank each of you who helped us bring HTA to pets and their people. And we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our HTA instructors, too.
In addition to many others, we extend our gratitude to: Our founder and lead instructor Carol Komitor, our Lead Coordinator Robin Phelps, and to Henriëtte Roosendaal, Ria Roosendaal, Madeleine Ferbal, Kate Brown, Kimi Cousins, Pamela Stanner, Marilena Bonetti, Carol Kinney, Marcia Bregman, Barabara Matayoshi, Leslie White, Kathy Veder, Lynette Davis, Deborah Wooten, Kimberly Thornton, and Mary Beth Genter. We look forward to the future and the opportunity to spread the mission of HTA even further!
We are always looking to expand our classes to new places. If you are interested in becoming an HTA coordinator, follow this link for more information.
