Geriann is a Healing Touch for Animals® Certified Practitioner (HTACP) and a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner (CHTP) in Minnesota.
Q: How did you get involved with Healing Touch for Animals?
A: I was first introduced to HTA while in a Healing Touch Program (for humans) practice group with a couple of people that were taking HTA classes and they were sharing some of their experiences. I received more information while at the North Central Healing Touch Gathering in Minnesota that same year. I knew then that I would be taking HTA classes as soon as I was done with my certification for people.
Q: How are you using HTA in your personal or professional life?
A: Shortly after my HTA certification in 2023, I started a part-time business called Energy in Balance, LLC “Healing Touch for Pets and their People.” This gives me the opportunity to utilize so many tools that I have acquired over the years, with HT and HTA being the cornerstones, to be able to provide a unique and specific sessions tailored for each of my clients.
Q: What is your favorite HTA technique?
A: I would say the technique that I use most often is easily Hara Repair and Balance™, especially since I work with so many shelter animals. But my favorite techniques are Trauma Release™ and Etheric Heartbeat™. I used Trauma Release on a human client that lost her home in a fire and the results were immediate and profound. She was able to shift her perspective so quickly and, therefore, able to move forward mentally and emotionally during a very trying time. Trauma Release has also been helpful for several very neglected animals that I have worked with. I love using Etheric Heartbeat™ at end of life and/or with the shelter animals that are very despondent or forlorn. It is a beautiful technique and I have literally seen dogs smile immediately after it.
Q: How do you stay engaged with your HTA practice?
A: The number one way that I stay engaged with my HTA practice is through volunteering. I work with two different dogs each week at the local Humane Society and also volunteer at a Cat Café once a month, doing sessions on 2-3 cats that are in need. This keeps my skills fresh and active. I believe in the “use it or lose it” philosophy. I try to read through my HTA manuals once a year (you’d be surprised how much you relearn each time), always sign up to receive the Monthly Mentorship Meeting recordings, and engage in the HTA Student Facebook group (reading, replying, or supporting posts). We have a great community and the more you can engage, the more you will feel connected.
Q: What has been the most rewarding part of HTA for you?
A: I love it when I can be part of a healing team: me, the owner, a vet, a physical therapist, or the different coordinators at the shelter. The pride of helping an animal heal, acclimate, feel loved, or get adopted is spectacular and fills my soul.
